<title>Call for Papers</title>
<link></link>
<description>Time Framed: Exploring Temporality and Film at San Francisco State University, October 23-24, 2008.
The Cinema Studies Graduate Student Association at San Francisco State University invites students in all disciplines to participate in this two-day conference devoted to the study of time in cinema.

From 'running time,' to 'story time,' from "Showtime" to "the March of Time" temporality is directly involved with the construction and reception of film. Questions of time raise questions of the ontological nature of film. What role does time play in the representation of reality? What significance can we find in non-chronological representations of time, or disjunctions between space and time? What kinds of effects are generated between diegetic time and narrative time? Is film the best medium to represent the passing of time? Or does it intercede and distort our very sense of duration, desire, and the past?

Questions and 200 word abstracts should be sent to sfsufilmconference@gmail.com by July 1, 2008. Invitations to attend will be sent by July 11, 2008.
